Hunslet Carr Maps

Sitting within the city of Leeds in West Yorkshire, Hunslet Carrs is a neighbourhood that forms part of the wider Hunslet area to the south of Leeds city centre. The “carrs” in its name is an old Norse word for low-lying, marshy ground – a clue to the area’s geography before the industrial and residential development that shaped much of south Leeds over the centuries.

The Local Area

Hunslet itself has long been associated with heavy industry, and Hunslet Carrs reflects the working-class residential character common to this part of the city. Streets of terraced housing make up much of the neighbourhood, and the area sits within easy reach of the road network connecting south Leeds to the city centre and the wider motorway system.

Getting Around

The neighbourhood’s position in south Leeds means bus routes linking it to Leeds city centre pass within easy reach. The broader Hunslet district connects to the M621 motorway corridor, making the area accessible by road from across West Yorkshire.
