West Chevin Maps

Sitting on the western edge of the Chevin ridge near Otley, West Chevin is a suburb within the Leeds metropolitan area. The Chevin itself is a prominent sandstone escarpment that rises sharply above the Wharfe Valley, and West Chevin occupies the quieter, less-visited western reaches of this elevated ground. The suburb is relatively close to the market town of Otley, which provides everyday amenities, shopping, and transport connections into Leeds city centre.

Character and Surroundings

West Chevin is a residential area of houses and streets set against the backdrop of open moorland and woodland that define the broader Chevin landscape. The Chevin Forest Park lies nearby, drawing walkers and cyclists who come for the sweeping views across Wharfedale. The area has a semi-rural character, with the density of housing giving way fairly quickly to open countryside on its higher fringes. Roads from here connect through Otley and on towards the A660, one of the main routes linking Wharfedale with Leeds.
